Here's the second creative thing I did this month that was not an outfit.
I don't know if you've realized in previous posts, but I am obsessed with eyes (as you can see here, here, and a billion other places as well) Drawing them, taking pictures of them and...just everything. I think eyes are absolutely the most beautiful things.
Anyway, here's a drawing I did of an eye. Enjoy :)

Summer In Winter

I wish it were summer right now. And due to the crazy hours of Bye Bye Birdie rehearsal this weekend I missed all the lovely summer weather that was going on this weekend! :( :( So I channeled my I-just-missed-a-beautiful-sunny-weekend-only-to-have-it-be-freezing-on-the-day-that-i-get-to-actually-go-outside-and-why-is-summer-so-far-away-and-why-do-my-teachers-give-homework feelings into this outfit. Unfortunately my summery vibes did little to quash the hatred that I felt for the lovely weather being on the one weekend I actually HAD to stay indoors, as, instead of sending off glowing waves of heat to everyone around me as I had imagined, I sat shivering in the corner of the room wishing I was wearing more clothing. It's alright though, because I love this shirt. SO much. And that's all that really matters, right?

CT 276 Either a Cloud-Like Wonder or a Day-Dream in Lace

Feeling lazy in the morning...and in the afternoon, and all day at school...and pretty much all the time is the bane of my existence.
I have got the 2nd quarter blues. It's not quite far enough into the school year that I've got this burst of energy like at the last 100 meters during the mile, and it's not early enough in the school year for me to be excited about school, like that first bit of the mile where you deceive yourself into believing that it will be easy. I don't know what is with all the running analogies...I'm probably thinking about it since I haven't exercised in literally 4-5 months. Anyway, 2nd quarter (well, now it's 3rd quarter) and after barely missing a 4.0, I hoped I would get a very strong work ethic to actually do my homework so that this would not happen again....however
Being on here, you have probably realized that, in fact, no. I am still starting my homework ridiculously late. FML. I have no self motivation.
And now I must away to my three hours of Bye Bye Birdie rehearsal. Sorry to be so whiny, to make up for it, here are some pictures of a cozy and lacy outfit I wore for my first day of finals

A Late New Years Resolution

This blog started off as a "creative thing a day blog" and although I believe fashion to be a creative thing, I wish I had more of the creative things I do outside of just my clothing.
This year I pledge to try to do at least two non-outfit related creative thing a month. (I was going to say once a week, but there are really stressful weeks that make me feel like this will become something I will just drop)
To start this off, I'd like to show you this collage I've been meaning to show you for a while now. I started it sometime in November and finished it about a month ago. not because it's super good and I worked on it every day, but because I had one step left to the layers upon layers that I had, and I left it to about a month later. All in all, it was a 4 day project, not including the huge break in the middle.
This collage was inspired by Erin Partridge who I met at the Mini Maker Faire in November. I am seriously so inspired by her work, everytime I look at her stuff, it makes me want to make a collage.
Anyway, I was inspired when I saw all her stuff at the Maker Faire and decided to pull out my collaging stuff again. Here is the result:

Hey guys,
This is how much I love you. Even though it's finals week and I'm madly scrambling around studying like a crazy-person, I still take time out of my day to make you a little outfit post. However, even just wasting this much time is stressing me out so I'll make it short and sweet.
Not much to say...this was from the first week back at school (I think the 1st day actually). Luckily, because I wore so many great outfits over break and bought so many/got so many new clothes, I had lots of great outfits. One for every day that week I believe :) More soon <3

CT 273 Furry Collar

Sometimes life rocks. Like buying this shirt. I was coveting it online for a while, but it was like $50 and it being such as short shirt and so little fabric, I didn't think it was worth it. Then, when I went to Urban Outfitters and they had it for $10! It was amazing. It took me a while to find something to wear it with.

My friend came over after school so, naturally, I made her walk around the block with me an take my photo. :) I looooove this first photo, I have to use it for something.

They came from my aunt in the mail at least 4 months ago and I keep meaning to wear them and fogetting. FINALLY I wore them when I went Christmas shopping in SF with my mom. A gay man came up and complimented me, so LIFE. COMPLETE. hah, but seriously, I love these pants and Jennifer- I'm sorry it took me so long to post photos of me wearing them :P

Here is a (low-quality- sorry) photo of my on my birthday. I'm serious. These suede shorts are AMMMMAZING. I wore them for like 4 days in a row! I'll take some better quality photos of this outfit when I have time (I have so many outfits lined up, it's gonna take forever to photograph them all!) Twenty Twelve

One year ago I made this blog.
Though it didn't quite go as planned with some huge bumps along the way, like my iPhoto constantly f***ing up, I did it. And I loved every moment of it. So instead of stopping at the end of this year, I am moving on. Continuing to blog here, nothing is really going to change except that I'm going to stop posting "CT" at the beginning of each post, which is something I will not miss in any way.
This year I have a new thing I wanted to share with you.
First a little background. To be perfectly honest, I've always hated tumblr, just because I've always felt that no one actually does anything on Tumblr. Photos are re-posted and re-posted to the point where nothing is original. It also always bothered me that everyone uses "whore" or "slut" in their name, I just thought that was unnecessary. And don't even get me started on all the disgustingly cliche quotes posted by some teenage girl who thinks her life totally sucks, when in reality, it's just life, and she should get over herself. For these reasons, I never really got into Tumblr. Then I started looking at bloggers who had Tumblr as well as a blog where they posted original things and started to think of it as an inspiration blog instead of a copier's blog.
I am now proud to present MY tumblr. theclothingdiaries.tumblr.com. This is an inspiration blog, so don't expect anything of mine up there, it is purely for inspiration. I may dabble in the idea of putting a few of my outfits up on it, but mostly it will be my inspiration blog.

CT 270 Suede Shorts

I'm sososososososososososososososo sorry it's been so long since I've posted. I've been busier over break than I have ever been not on break. I feel so bad because I was gonna catch up and everything. anyway. I know i know, the year is technically over and I'm done, but I'm still gonna post. (also I'm not gonna stop blogging, because I'm having too much fun)
again my iphoto is f***ed up so I can't get the next outfit off of that for a while so here is a not-in-order outfit :)
We went to the dog park to take my adorable dog for a walk. I was so exited to try out these vintage suede shorts I bought from Mars Vintage the other day when I was hanging out on Telegraph with my friend. These shorts combine all the things I love together: that dark camel color, super high waisted (actually at my waist, none of that right-above-the-hips crap) and NOT loose at my waist. I feel bad wearing so much dead cow, but it was gonna be dead cow weather or not I bought them, so I just went for it.

CT 269 Lost In The Fog

It was SO foggy, but it looked really pretty in the morning, as it has been for a few weeks now. I love this Bay Area weather with the foggy and freezing mornings that almost burn off later with a little bit of heat. It's nice. Though it's difficult to get dressed in the morning and know if it will, in fact, be cold or if it will be warm...

CT 268 Waiting For the Mail

I've been so busy lately!
What with troubs gigs, homework, Bye Bye Birdie practice, being sick and it just being christmas time, it's been crazy. I'm trying not to be one of those people who post less than once a week, but I'm slowly becoming "ONE OF THEM"! NOOOOooooooooOOooooOoooOOooOoooo.
I swear, I'mma post more now. I've just been busy. (as I said above) and sick.
Seriously. I swear.
Wanna hear how sick I am right now? No? okay, I'm still telling you:
my nose is red from over-use of those nasty tissues that are all scratchy (SERIOUSLY has my school NOT seen this comercial?) (okay, i just spent like 20 minutes looking for the commercial and couldn't find it, but you know the aloe vera infused kleenex? that's what i'm talking about) come on people get the kleenex "

For delicate skin, give all of your sniffles and sneezes soothing softness and see how a little lotion goes a long way." Anyway, my nose is red and dry and in pain, I sound like a man, my throat burns like there's a little fire going crackling in there and I'm sniffing every freakking second! I sound rediculous, like i'm trying to keep something from escaping.
I'ts not just me though, in my social psychology class today, my teacher showed us this really compelling speech and I couldn't tell who was crying and who was just sniffing to keep their snot IN their nose.
anyway, I look terrible, but here are some pictures of an outfit from BEFORE I was a sniffling nincompoop.

But enough excuses, I know you're probably tired of this outfit, seeing it for the last week (becuase I'm sure you religiously check my blog every singly day), but here are some more full-on pictures of it.

CT 267 San Fransisco Sneak Peek

My friend and I went to San Francisco for a little photo-shoot thing. It wasn't as successful as we'd hoped, but we still got a few good pictures. Here are a few from my dad's camera.
On this trip I tried to maintain the same hair style that I had had the day before. The results were not as good as I'd hoped, but it looked vaguely similar to the hair style I wore on thanksgiving so I just went with it.
We went to Peir 39, a very tourist-y place, I know, but pretty none-the less. Of course the day after Thanksgiving, it was already decked out with a huge ornamented Christmas tree (which we took many photos in front of).
First, however, we saw the beautiful sunset and just had to stop and take some photos. The lighting was so gorgeous leaving a pink glow around one's face.
It was simply marvelous. :)

Tahoe

A few weeks ago I went on a retreat with the troubadors. We all went to Tahoe for the weekend and, it being winter, it was snowing. it was one of the most fun things I've done in a long time. We all sang christmas carols together by the fire while the snow fell outside the windows and we all took walks in the snow together and spontaneously burst into song and then had snowball fights and made snow angels. It was just amazing. We had super fun bonding time and, because the cabin was so small, we all became a lot closer (literally) and more comfortable with each other.

CT 265 Quashing My Lack of Inspiration (11/21/11)

I've been inside all day, watching TV shows and looking at other blogs, so to quash the un-creativity I felt, I started drawing as I was watching TV shows. CT 264 My impulsiveness+Cutting my own hair=BANGS (11/14/11)

The other day, after watching New Girl I decided that I really wanted bangs like Zooey Deschanel. She's so gorgeous I couldn't help wishing I looked like her. unfortunately, because I cut my own hair, it was very easy for me to just cut off bangs after I took a shower. Which, in fact, is exactly what I did. Luckily, after I realized that curly bangs were not going to do it for me, I noticed that I had a hair straightener and I could, in fact, straighten my hair, which I did. I tied a bow in my hair, threw on some comically large glasses, and I was set to go to school.

CT 263 Patterns a Plenty (11/7/11)

I love this sweater material dress! I feel so fall-y in it. It makes me happy since fall is lovely. The leaves turning colors and falling so that you can jump on them and hear the little crunching noise beneath your feet? ahhh. I love the fall. Although I was freezing while these photos were being taken, it was worth it since they turned out so cool!

CT 262 Plaid Collar. (11/3/11)

It's very cold today, but I wore a skirt and blazer none-the-less. I tend to do that. Not care about the weather, I mean. I'm actually very used to being cold now. If I wear a sweatshirt (on the weekends or something) I get extremely hot walking around. I'm too used to wearing thin sweaters even in mid-winter.
Anyway, I have been coveting detachable collars for a while now, and I finally just cut the collar off of one of my old collared shirts that I don't wear anymore. I think it was a good re-use of that shirt, since I never wear it and was going to get rid of it anyway. This FTBH post is really what got me started on detachable collars, and I can't wait to add to my collection. I have a great plan sketched out for a patterned, petaled collar that I'm super exited about. Perhaps it will come into fruition over Thanksgiving break. :)

CT 261 Shadow (11/1/11)

This weekend I went to buffalo exchange, planning to try and find things for the dickens fair, and ending up spending a lot of money on other clothes and shoes. DAMN IT. This always happens to me. I swore I wasn't going to buy anything, but come on! Peter Pan collars and black studded boots? How could I say no? Here are a few of the new things, worn the next day of course.

Also, in the last two, I thought the shadows were hilarious. It was this perfect Time of day where my shadows looked extremely fat. They seem to gain and lose weight fairly quickly throughout the course of the day.

CT 260 Princess Hair (10/26/11)

Although I was a bit displeased with my outfit today (I actually changed for these photos), I was proud of my pinned, headband-ed, and highly styled hairdo. This look wouldn't have come about without the hinderances of my hair. To be explained......
Okay:
When I take a shower at night, I often have to sleep with my hair wet. Because I always wear leave-in-conditioner while my hair dries and because I move around quite a bit when I sleep, my hair is often TOO curly when I wake up in the morning, my curls looking a bit funky. Often I have to put my hair up and sometimes I even straighten my bangs so they're not too short. Today was one of these bad hair days. However, I was rather pleased with the results it yielded.

CT 259 Pattern Upon Pattern (10/25/11)

I love mixing patterns- Floral with paisley with polkadots with stripes with plaid with numerous other patterns. I hate when people say to not break style"rules" and I know this is said all the time, but all my style icons and pretty much ALL great style icons break the rules. FTBH almost doesn't go a day without breaking a rule, Dani and Bianca from Kastor and Pollux, Cosette Munch, le happy, Amanda Brohman etc. don't leave the house worried that they've broken "style rules". ANYONE and everyone breaks the rules and that is what makes their outfits unique and fun. I don't see how anyone can say and believe that there are rules that you truly cannot or should not break. It's crazy.
Just something to keep in mind when you're getting dressed tomorrow morning. :)

After months of sporadically warm/cold weather, it was awesome to have an actual FALL day. Although I can imagine it will probably not stay for long, it was nice none-the-less.

CT 257 Maker Faire (10/16/11)

Today we went to the mini maker faire.
~~I can't write much now, but I can just say- it was awesome!~~
It was SO fun! There were some awesome bikes, tech-y stuff, jewelry, and lot's of other artists. I really like this one woman- a collage journalist named Erin Partridge. You should check out her website; her stuff is awesome!

CT 255 In the Make-Shift Studio (10/15/11)

Madeline and I practiced taking pictures and setting up this make-shift studio today, since we're taking the photos at the Homecoming Dance. (and we get paid for it!) Lucky for us, Madeline's brother has a lot of photography equipment so we didn't even have to rent the flashes, umbrellas, backdrop etc. we just borrowed it from him. But we thought it would be a good idea to practice first, and good thing we did, because it took us a couple tries before we got it to all work! Anyway, after we set it up, we thought we might as well take some photos of each other (I pretty much brought my entire wardrobe...)
I had to do a bit of editing, because, of course, we realized at the END that we should have had the white balance it on shady mode the whole time, so I had to go in and warm up most of them, but it wasn't much work, and look how pretty they look now!
Also, in the last ones, Madeline was genius and brought out a fan! Check out these awesome results.

CT 254 WOAH JEANS (10/8and19/11)

The first few photos are from my aunt's pumpkin carving party (yes, i know it's very early, but my aunt's not going to be here for halloween, so we had it early) I made the catbus from Totoro! Unfortunately I don't have a photo, but I'll post one soon. For now, this is what the bus looks like:

Anyway, I was trying to be casual and warm, but also look nice. I think I achieved that happy medium. So those are the first few photos (unintentional alliteration) There are also some photos from the 19th when I wore this same outfit to school. That is where the title came from since EVERY SINGLE person who saw me said some form of that. Obviously, I'm not one to wear pants often, if ever and the pants that I do wear are special (i.e. high waisted, not jean material, sheer etc.) So the reactions were because these people have either not seen me in jeans at school, not seen me in jeans in a while, or never before seen me in jeans. PreTTy CraZy for them...
I also subscribed to teen vogue and received my free bag on the 19th. (shown below)

CT 253 Bow Tie and Fancy Tights (10/7/11)

Swap these ankle boots for black pumps and my nude lip to a bright and bold red and I could be a secretary. As a secretary, I drink too much coffee, leaving a red lip print on every disposable Starbucks cup. I may strut around and splurge on every black stiletto I can find, but secretly I listen to classic 70's punk rock and adorn my punk makeup and a spiked and dyed faux-hawk on every weekend. Of course, carefully wiping off everything before monday and instead applying my meticulously drawn red lip and slipping on my black stilettos and my secretary persona, leaving my tights to be the only clue of my secret life.

CT 252 Collared and Sleeveless (10/5/11)

It was pretty cold on the fifth so I layered this front buttoned, sleeveless, collared dress with a sweater and sweater tights. Paired with these tan oxfords, I think the look was pretty cozy, but nice at the same time. I've begun to pin back my bangs like this almost all the time. I think I prefer them to look like this than all crazy and huge.

CT 251 Christmas Sweater (10/4/11)

As it is (finally) fall, I pulled out a nice christmas sweater I recently bought (well, my aunt bought it for me) and paired it with this striped banded skirt and a tied scarf. I was very cozy all day without looking boring, which is often difficult.

It was so rainy on the third! It finally felt like fall. I'm glad the fall weather is coming out, though I wear a lot of things that are much too cold to wear in the winter. I still wear them though, instead of bare legs, however, I cover my shivering limbs in sweater tights and over-the-knee socks.

Unlike most people my age, I love visiting my grandparents, we always eat good food and play charades until we're all laughing and incoherent. I know I'm a teenager and I'm supposed to be all angsty and hate my family or something, but I really don't, and I think all those teenagers who do are missing out on something great. Though, it may just be my family that is this awesome. I hope not though, because I feel like everyone should experience the amazing family time that I do.
This time we visited I had my hair pinned up short and some of the ends colored red (with lipstick....another thing that makes me an un-angst-y teenager, the only time I dyed my hair it was so subtle that no one noticed, so for bursts of color on my less than golden locks, I color them with markers or lipstick...)

Today I wore an almost entirely new outfit from my little shopping spree with my aunt.
Today I am that girl you see riding the subway, reading a book or listening to music on her ipod on the way to wherever she's going. She's usually not with other people, preferring to travel alone while sketching in the margin of her notebook. At her stop she jumps up, note book under her arm and iPod thrown in purse and walks off the subway with purpose.

CT 247 Braidlocks (9/27/11)

Here is a quick-y post all about my hair.

My hair is very unruly. Some days it's as greasy as a recently-used frying pan, some days it's dry and coarse like dead grass. Partially because I often sleep with my hair wet, my locks are very fickle. Some days my hair looks like an explosion of curls, others a rat's nest of knots.

Today was one of those days where your hair just feels like hay. It was horrible. So I figured, stupidly, that it would be better if I straightened it. Not the case. It turned out like frizzy puff ball- not exactly the look I was going for. I slept with it in a bun, but this did little to thwart the mass of frizzles I had on my head. Eventually, during one of my classes, I put my hair in a bunch of little braids, which a lot of people told me looked like dreadlocks. I liked the idea. With my beret and glasses, I felt like a poet who writes in old, disintegrating notebooks, sitting in a cafe drinking coffee or tea. A thought that, unfortunately, was not ever put into action as the 80 degree weather prohibited any consumption of hotter-than-luke-warm drinks.

My wintery sweater was a bit on the hopeful side, but it was so cozy that I couldn't help throwing it on when I woke up to the mornings mist. Fooled by the Bay Area weather, as per usual.

My aunt took me shopping this weekend, she's the best. We, of course, went to Urban Outfitters where I saw these pants. I was immediately in love, and even more in love when I noticed how well they went with these adorable wedges of my mothers! Score? I think yes.

So, I finally got my iPhoto back in working condition, but so as to not overwhelm you with creative things, and also making it easier on myself. From now until I get caught up, I wont post EVERY SINGLE THING I have done. I'll skip a few of the less interesting things. If you want to see them, maybe next year, when this resolution is over and I have nothing to post for a while, I'll post that. For now, however, only the interesting things are posted.

It was ridiculously hot today. In english I couldn't even stand to wear my sheer top and I kept wishing I was not wearing a felt hat. It was so sweaty in that crowded classroom, my glasses were slipping down my nose. On the plus side, I have developed a twitch to push up my glasses and even when I'm not wearing them, which, I'm sure you can imagine, looks pretty cool. (Extreme sarcasm)
Other than the overheating, I loved aspects of my outfit today. I love my new felt hat-it's color is perfect, especially with this mustard/brown skirt. And, of course, I love this shirt thing. It's sheer and polka dotted, so that is automatically amazing. And, like the polka dotted pants I wore, it was originally a pajama and, according to FTBH, that's kind-of the best thing in the world.
As for the title, I think the gathered shoulders make me look almost Victorian, which, of course, I couldn't adore more.

Today I wore my maxi-dress that I got at Thrift Town the other day. Combined with these glasses, pinned back bangs, thick belt and oxfords, the look became my own.
This weather has been crazy lately, I was actually burning up in this dress today. I am so ready for fall, what's with this crazy 80 degree week?? Ugh, where was this in JULY when it was raining? (*sigh*) I just gotta live with this crazy California weather.

That I actually wear glasses? It's true I only HAVE to wear them in class, but I'm practically blind distance-wise without them. On this particular weekend day, I decided to wear them around so I could actually SEE things.
For those of you SLR camera users- it's like my eyes have a really low aperture, the things close up are focused, but everything behind them is blurry, then when I put my glasses on, the aperture has been turned way up and suddenly I can see everything similarly clearly, which is very strange and often makes me a little dizzy if I move my head too fast.
Anyway, here are some photos of me with my REAL glasses on.

Today I wore another dress. This dress makes me feel either like a Sailor or like I should be carrying a picnic basket. Either way I love it. It has a collar, a bow and polkadots, I mean, what more could you want? :)
I gave the pictures this antique look to play off the sailor bit. And, yes, I'm wearing this hat again.

I am having a very stressful week, but I'm trying to pull through. Here is todays outfit: I normally dislike dresses, simply because it's so difficult to make them look different each time you wear them, but I think I accomplished a "different" look today :) Like a french schoolgirl right before fall.

The first thing shown is my Creative Thing- I altered an old romper to create this crop top (first cutting it in half, then changing the buttons to these nicer, more modern, shiny black ones). I am very into polka dots right now, so this will fit in nicely with the next few days ensembles.
Today I went to Thrift Town with my mom, below are some of the things I found. :) (Sheer pants, maxi-dress, corduroy dress, huge fluffy skirted dress)

CT 232 Feathers and Flowers (9/9/11)

This hat was a really good find, I'm wearing it all the time these days. I like it because I can wear it with different bows and it looks like a different hat.
Today was tiring, but I found out something exiting:
I GOT INTO TROUBS!! I will now be singing at events and stuff in a quartet for christmas time. It's really exiting but also very stressful, since I have to learn my part in a bunch of different songs before Christmas-time and be able to sing my part alone, while there are three other parts going on around me, which will probably be difficult. Anyway, although I will be more stressed soon, I am super exited about getting in!!
Anyway, I was happy I was wearing a good outfit on a good day, that way it made the day extra special. I love these flower shorts and feather earrings- they both seem to go with all my favorite pieces!

Right before school started, my friend and I went to Tahoe.
In these first few photos we are in this field right outside Madeline's house in Tahoe. After that we're in another field.
Getting to this gorgeous field was difficult, we had to ride our bikes for a really long time up this hill, which took forever. It was worth it though, the field was so beautiful! Madeline and I discovered this really cool setting on our cameras called "shade mode" which basically makes everything look like it is sunset- you can see that in the last few photos.
Oh, and, by the way, this is the dress from this post.

These boots were my mom's for a while, but they always had this weird scent that really bothered her, so pretty much all of last year they were sitting outside and this year we brought them in. They still smelled weird so my mom said that I could have them, which I was happy about. I realize I have worn a similar outfit, but I figured the makeup and boots changed it enough.

One of my friends always gives me the BEST compliments, today she told me I looked like "A Navahoe Biker Chick", which I greatly enjoyed.
Today I tried out for Troubadors, this singing group at my school that is student led. They get gigs singing , usually around the holiday times, at restaurants as entertainment. I really want to do it, but I don't think I'll get in since they're only taking two girls this year, but I'll keep you posted!

CT 230 Details (9/6/11)

These are some details of an outfit I wore. The first are of a charm bracelet I've had since fifth grade. Each charm means something to me- the typewriter and the "create" pendent were the first two I got since I love to write and create things-and obviously still do. Next I got the pig since I was obsessed with pigs for a while, then I got a gymnast (who's actually a ballerina, but, I pretend she's a gymnast) then the camera, which is, at the moment, probably my favorite since I got my new SLR camera about a year ago. Then you see the rest of my outfit, with the huge bow on my hat, the writer necklace I got at that craft-faire and one of my favorite pairs of earrings.

After my dad and I went to the new Apple Store to buy me a hard rive (my photos were taking up 43 GB of computer space...) we went to lunch at this cute little restaurant.
On another note- I got a bunch of nice compliments on my hat while we were out, so I figured a picture for the blog was in order. :)

okay, yes, this was taken in the bathroom, but it was a really pretty bathroom with nice mirrors and stuff. So the picture was not weird.

CT 227 Problem and Solution (9/3/11)

For English class I had to write an essay. I know I know, this is not an ideal creative thing, but THIS is a fun essay where we do not just analyze a book and tear it apart making it no longer enjoyable. This is a "problem solution essay." We had to come up with a problem- it could be personal or worldly (I picked personal) and describe it in depth, using similes and metaphors and complex sentences. Then you come up with solutions- they could be silly or logical- and end with the best solution for your problem. It may still sound boring to you, but I got really into it, writing and editing for hours at a time and I treated it like a creative thing, hence the putting it on the blog, CREATIVE THING a day. For those of you who don't like writing, sucks- you should read this anyway. I'm rather fond of it.

You know that cute image of the little girl in her mom's too-big shoes? Yeah, not me, in fourth grade I was already my mom's shoe size. And now that I actually WANT to borrow her shoes they are too small. This is relevant, I swear. These shoes here are my mom's shoes. After wearing them all day, my feet were unbelievably sore from the constricting leather that did not stretch as much as I would have liked.

Today, my hair was very unruly so I put it under this headscarf which ended up looking really interesting especially with these earrings and lens-less glasses. I had a really awesome day today. When I'm wearing an outfit I really like I suddenly feel super confident and happy. Not to mention when I get sweet comments on my clothes, that always lights up my day.

I freaking love this blazer, I love when I find something so perfect at a thrift town. I mean- $2, can you beat that? I just rediscovered a pair of earrings on my dresser. My aunt gave them to me a few years ago in a box of vintage stuff for my birthday, but I had so many god earrings I never had cause to wear them. After some gum got loose in my backpack, I had to get rid of one of my favorite pairs of gold earrings, but now that I realized how awesome these ones are I'm kind of glad the other ones were ruined.

CT 223 Peter Pan and Polka Dots (8/30/11)

I am in love with the new "Peter Pan collar" style. I find it so charming. I love that something so high necked and old times-y could be so popular with teenagers today. Polka dots already win me over, make it sheer and it's positively amazing, but then add a peter pan collar and it is simply to die for!

I know you've seen this dress before, but with this hat and shoes and the way I did my hair I felt like I came out of a painting. Which is just what someone else said to me as well.
I often get the weirdest compliments, such as the sheep-hearder compliment a few posts ago. This was another one I liked. "You look like you just walked out of a painting." I like that idea.

Today when we went to the dog park there was a guy with two fishing poles and a long rope attatched and used the wind to blow bubbles. Bubble seems so crazy and impossible. They remind me of jelly fish in a way. Like the way they move and their beautiful and almost unnatural looking colors.

This the simple outfit I wore to the park. I've never figured out how to wear this shirt, since it is really too short to be a dress, but too long to be a shirt. I'd never tried tucking it in before, which turned out to be the perfect solution. At the bottom there are also some cute photos taken at my grandparents house.

CT 218 A Bow and a Blazer (8/25/11)

Two days of school down 178 to go. (*sigh*)
To be perfectly honest, I don't want it to go too fast. Not knowing what on earth I want to do with my life after high school, I wouldn't say I'm prepared. Then again, I can already tell sophomore year will be hard and it's not like it gets any easier.

But to the real post:
No, I cannot yet drive, but I wish I could- I'm just not motivated enough to get the classes done.
This is my dad's car- A light mint colored Ford Falcon my family christened "Cricket."This is just the greatest car. I love it's rust spots and it's bunjee-corded gear shift, it's old-car-horn honk and it's window that only rolls down halfway. Watch out dad, because as soon as I can drive, this puppy is gonna be all mine. I'll drive it with my Raybans sporting and outfit a little something like this.

CT 215 Unfinished Dress (8/22/11)

Today as those of you who READ my rants will know, my sewing machine broke, so (hah- sew/so!) here is the half finished dress I have done.

It is hemmed, peter pan collar-ed, taken in, and one sleeve-ed. Almost done. Although in this photo the hem looks very lopsided, let me assure you-it's not. Anyway, though it looks very close to being done- it's actually not.

This dress can't be finished for at least two weeks, since I have to get the machine fixed.

yes yes, it is another life story instead of dresses-shut up. Unfortunately for you (AND ME) my sewing machine broke today (and as I often mean by today-yesterday) while I was finishing up the sleeves from hell on the dress I was making (I am not joking-I sewed and un-stitched, sewed and un-stitched these puppies like a billion times- okay, more like seven, but that's still a hell of a lot of times to sew on f***ing sleeves- before I finally got ONE right only to have the sewing machine break before I could get the second one right) Anyway- this means no sewing stuff for at least two weeks, (that's how long it's going to take to fix it) which means I failed my quest for greatness. :( I'm probably more upset than you, I had some awesome plans for detachable collars. Ah well, in a few weeks my greatness and motivation shall be re-unleashed in an explosion of altered dresses and detachable collars. In the meantime I will post the beginnings of the unfinished dress, but let me warn you-it's not much- YET. it will be awesome as soon as the sewing machine works again.

For one- there is the new header which believe it or not- took forever to get right, if you were on here while that was going on, I sincerely apologize for constant changes going on while you were trying to read.

Another thing is I changed the colors-it's all polished and white and stuff now.

Anyway, that's pretty much it, just wanted to keep you all updated and stuff, not that you wouldn't notice it of course, just incase you didn't- new stuff has happened.

I'm trying to enjoy my last days of summer, so I'm gonna go do something.
And yes, the dresses are coming.

I know what you're all thinking- where are these fore-promised altered-dresses? trust me- I'm feeling the heat with only three days of summer left, but hopefully there will be one each day with one day to spare?

For now however, we have patterns! I've been a bit obsessed with pattern making since my aunts have been here, so I couldn't help but create these few.

I hate to say pretty much nothing, but does this need much explaining? What with the title and the photos, I believe you can piece it together.
Only side note- fall is sneaking up on us so fast! This year is slipping by me so quickly, I can hardly love summer for a second before the leaves are turning gold and red already! (*sigh*) I do love fall- it's lovely, but I already miss summer and it's not even completely gone yet. :(

We went to the Exploritorium today and I wore this outfit. It's the bottom half of the dress that I altered in this post worn with my new shoes and belt. Being in San Francisco I took lots of photos of beautiful buildings.

Today I went shopping almost all day with my mom. One of my favorite purchases was these awesome oxford flats. They are two tone, like I wanted, they are a tannish color, like I wanted and they are MY SIZE, like I wanted.
I'm so exited to wear these!
The creative thing of the day are these inspiration pages I made. This summer I have been flipping through magazines by the poolside, or with the light of the sun on my hair, or upstairs in my room with the blinds shut...that last one sounded less appealing. Anyway, you know, it's summer and I read magazines in the summer. And I would get inspired by outfits in Teen Vogue or Seventeen and I would rip them out and stick them in my journal. Today I made them into a collage- an unfinished one, yes, but I'm sure it will soon be finished.

Anyway- hope you are having a magazine and inspiration filled summer. <3

Today (yes, I am home at last) I altered my first dress of four (my second hundredth post goal). I removed the sleeves of the mumu and cut it off at the waistline, creating a much more fashionable crop-top.

CT 207 Great Gatsby Festival and New Accessories (8/13/11)

Today (still in Tahoe) we went to Yoga on the beach at 8:00, which was very refreshing and surprisingly difficult. We then went to Taylor creek where people had carved things into the Aspen trees. The trees then "scabbed over" so to speak and and created these amazing patterns on the tree that were indiscernible as words, but made for great photos. Above that are two new things: a cuff bracelet I got on Vashon and a pair of suede booties I purchased here in Tahoe. I love both immensely and can tell you now that they will be featured in many outfits to come.
Later in the day we popped into the Great Gatsby Festival. It sounds totally amazing, which is why I was so exited to go, but it was a complete bust. For someone who goes to the Dickens fair every year, the Great Gatsby festival was nothing short of boring. They had great vintage clothing (all out of my price range, especially with a new pair of shoes), but other than that I didn't find anything interesting about the place. They didn't have any craft booths, which I would have loved or really any good vintage things other than the cool post cards they were selling for a dollar and, obviously, the clothes. I did, however, get a few photos (the umbrella and cars).

CT 206 "Round she goes/where she stops nobody knows" (8/12/11)

Today (well, actually, late last night) I arrived in Tahoe with my friend and her mom (no I have not gone home yet). We rode our bikes all the way up to this beautiful field of wildflowers and gorgeous Aspen trees. This year has apparently been great for wildflowers as you can hopefully see in my photos.
After that long bike ride we rode home, got on our swimsuits and coverups and rode back out to about halfway where we had just rode to and went swimming. Then rode back and had dinner on the beach with a gorgeous sunset illuminating our hamburgers with gold and red hues.
Madeline and I had a photo-shoot in the aspens and wildflowers which I will share with you as soon as I get the photos.

This being a photo diary, I don't actually have to write anything, but here are a few little things-
1. It was a beautiful day today in Manzanita
2. They have great rusty old bikes that are gorgeous in photos

4. The feather earrings pictured above were $84 and a bit out of my price range for accessories, so I didn't buy them, but I LOVED them and couldn't help snapping a photo when the checker wasn't looking.

CT 202 Laneda Avenue (8/8/11)

Today was the first day in Manzanita. We were walking around town and I didn't bring my camera so I used the "Instagram"app for the first few photos. Then we went to our friends house where they had what looked like a real life Totoro tree. They also let off fireworks which looks AMAZING in the photographs- almost space-y.

CT 201 Clouds Like the Foam on a Mocha (8/7/11)

Today we arrived in Manzanita, Oregon. Although we arrived in the evening, as soon as we got here we changed and went down to the beach. It's extremely windy on the beach, but it's so fun to be in the sand. It was the kind of sand that squeaks under your feet while you walk. That sound always makes me think of Oregon, that being the place that seems to have the most of it.

These last two photos were taken with an iPhone app called "Instagram" Which allows you to take a photo and apply filters to it. They have the best filters as well, not like the three filters they give you in photoshop- antique, sepia and black and white. It has things like "earlybird" (photo 2) and "Sutro" (photo 1). These filters are so interesting and amazing! I just love them.

CT 200 House of Lines (8/5/11)

Today my dad gave me a drawing lesson and helped me draw the house. We bought a bunch of old rapidograph pens at Granny's Attic which we used to finish up the drawing.

OH AND IT'S THE 200th POST meaning I need a goal and that goal is- drum roll please- by the end of summer I will alter four dresses/pieces of clothing/create something into things I will actually wear. Not that I don't do this, but I would like to do it more often, and this is my chance

Today we had to bring my friend back to the airport to send her back to California. On the way to bringing her to the airport we wen to this amazing bakery- Bakery Nouveau. Not only is everything delicious, but it is beautiful as well.

Every first friday of the month there is an art walk on Vashon, here are some photos I took while walking around.
